Going Green

And not in a good way.

The scalloped skirts really bother me for some reason. They remind me of one of those frilled lizard critters. And is it just me, or are those stirrups WAY too far back?

Now, this one is just painful to look at. It is a synthetic with acid green fake ostrich print accents. The green pin striping SO makes the saddle.

Pass the antacids, please.

  1. I completely agree about both saddles. The scallops just do not look good and I am not a personal fan of green or ostrich, and certainly not green ostrich.

  2. I kinda like that top one......I liked that teal one the other day, too, except.......

I'm not real big on tri-color. If that top one was all green and tan, without that icky grey, I'd add saddle strings to those back conchos and use it.

  3. The first one would be okay without the grey and the atrocious scallops. I like the light green and tan combo but not on the headstall and breastcollar. The second one is just fug.

  4. HAHAHA---The scallops do look like an iguana!

  5. The first one didn't seem so bad, but then...

    Scalloped skirts? WHY????

Good thing you pointed out the green piping on the second one- my eyes were so overcome by everything else, I honestly would have missed it.

I just went back for a second look at the first saddle- is the pommel/swells and cantle snake skin? Or are they just tooled to look like it? What's up with that?

  6. I took a look at the 1st one again and have decided that maybe that is not grey but light tan 'rough out' leather? Either way the scalloped skirt is the deal killer on that one.

  7. Yes, CNJ... the reptile-stamped leather REALLY completes the Dino-Wars effect!!!!

    On the second one...
I've liked ONE synthetic saddle ever. It was a really nice Wintec dressage saddle.

You, Sir, are no Wintec dressage saddle.

  8. Dino-Wars!!! That resulted in soda spew.

So it IS trying to mimic the frilly neck reptile in skin and scallops!

    EPIC! WIN! there, Tacky Tack.

I'm not a fan of Wintec's. Dressage or otherwise.

  9. I can't see myself ever buying a Wintec.

You know I'm SUCH the Leather Snob!

Hey, how 'bout a post on Tack Care FAIL ?

  10. I'm still patiently waiting for the post on all the great tack finds- steals and deals!

  11. Well at least we know the second saddle is an accurate picture.

The saddle sits the same way on a horse.

Leather Snobs UNITE! Making horse equipment cheaper never did anyone good except those making it.

  12. Hey! I must protest. The Incredible Hulk deserves down time when he's not on superhero duty. Who are we to criticize his choice of (Ewwwww) saddle? Oops. Did I say that outloud?
