Today's Tack is yet another of those obnoxious saddles with the cut-outs and colored "ostrich" leather underneath. It comes with a matching bridle and breastcollar. Oddly enough, it looks to be relatively well made. It seems that there is no end to the supply of tacky saddles out there.
This would not be so bad if they ditched the heart cut outs and the carmel colour. I don't mind the light colour and the teal together. Not fussed on that breastcollar and headstall though.
ReplyDeleteHEARTS. Bleah.
ReplyDeleteI was SO glad when hearts went out of style in the mid 80s.
I have a heart-shaped belt buckle somewhere... and a belt with my name in silver letters on the back. I wore it in college when I went clubbing, for ironic grunge fashion.
Teal makes me think of Gatlinburg weddings.
GAG! Do not like the color combo, do not like the shade of teal, do not like anything about it!
ReplyDeleteI still like hearts on some tack. A nice set of vintage heart rosettes on dark leather look really nice. I just found my set of fat heart rosettes, now I need to find a nice dark or medium oil bridle to put them on.
ReplyDeleteBut I despise that ostrich leather in any color! It looks cheap even on a well made saddle.
That teal always reminds me of the bridesmaid's gowns in the movie MY Big Fat Greek Wedding.
A good riding buddy has this saddle set with stars instead of hearts... and matching boots, spur straps, and gloves. I tease her all the time.
ReplyDeleteOMG! I just found somethng to go with this. I will email it in all it's hideous glory.
ReplyDeleteBack to the saddle- Not a fan of hearts. Not a fan of teal on the tack, not a fan of ostrich skin and not a fan of a lot of what went into this saddle.
ReplyDeleteBTW- I sent the link. TTOTD, you've got mail!
I like teal. But not this teal and not this teal w/the other colors on the saddle and not the hearts. Not much left to like today!

um, ok. I'll admit to making something similiar in 1:9 scale. But not in teal and not so many 'accents'.
ReplyDeleteI had some nice navy blue suede and, well, I kinda like the cutouts. Then I found a heart shaped hole punch that was the right size... Couldn't resist doing the project! I don't know if I have a photo handy, but maybe the kid who bought it can snap a pic for me.
It was 'light oil' with heart cutouts lined in the blue suede and a blue suede seat. I'm not all that good at western so it was just an experiment. Therefore I didn't make certain places blue that I guess I could have.
I really, really, really, really, REALLY hate fake ostrich leather. It is just so...hmm, what's the word...oh yes. TACKY!!!! I like real ostrich leather, though.
ReplyDeleteUh-oh. I think someone needs to check their color wheel. I'm not sure bright teal, pale lavender, black and orange...um, match.
ReplyDeleteWhoever's hiring? You need to check the next designer for colorblindness.
Since it didn't make todays headline...
ReplyDeleteHere is another tacky teal offering.
Click to enlarge to see it's other flaws. And it can be all yours for $378!
Hearts...BARF! I HATE anything with hearts on it, especially an otherwise not-too-bad-looking saddle.
ReplyDeleteYOu know, it looks like a lucky charm saddle.
