For the most part, I wouldn't post this on here, especially if this were a costume made by an individual, but alas, it is not. This is a "bareback saddle" set offered by El Companero . It comes in a variety of colors and configurations, and they also offer saddlebags to match. Wow.
I can't figure out if she belongs with a wild west show, the kiddie rides, or the direhorses from Avatar (they had blue people on them, not that this looks like it's worthy of being in Avatar). Maybe if it were natural rawhide color I MIGHT see it in like a parade get-up for an indian troop or something... but that's it.
ReplyDeleteokay, for an adult..no way. For a young girl, I can see this. Yes it's shockingly yucky but I think as a little girl I would have so put this on a horse. LOL
ReplyDeleteIf I saw someone seriously riding in this I would fall over laughing.
ReplyDeletekinda screams "PONY PARTY", doesn't it.
ReplyDeleteDon't Diss the El Companero. I love this blog and read it all the time, but the El Companero is actually a really great bareback pad. Sure, I don't really like the Turqiouse, but the more natural colors that they have aren't bad. Although I agree, I wouldn't use the dangley reins, etc. ;)
ReplyDeleteI actually DID see someone riding in one of these. It was the more natural suede color, NOT the turquois one and she'd wisely left off all the fringy crap. The lady who was riding on it was in her 30's so she wasn't some young kid. She had added a few small tasteful conchos with turquoise beads to it and it actually looked kinda "native". I rode with her on a 10 mile trail ride and my hips were crying in sympathy because if I had ridden that far bareback I'm pretty sure my hips would have fell right out of their sockets.
ReplyDeleteThe picture is obviously a spanking new one that hadn't ever been sat on so it hasn't molded to the horses back. It is certainly not the best picture they could use for marketing that's for sure. Once they are ridden in they kinda mold to the horses shape and don't look so ridiculous. The turquoise is pretty ugly though.
I have seen and sat on the pad at a horse expo. It was nice, well made and comfortable. It has some sort of memory foam under the suede. The booth selling them did not have have the fringe crap. The fringe is just stupid that is just one more thing or should I say a bunch of things that could get caught on something and be dangerous.
ReplyDeleteEven if the color wasn't the most awful shade of turquoise, the fringe has GOT TO GO!
ReplyDeleteOMG! That poor horse! He looks like even he knows it's ugly!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, you'd definitely be able to reduce the use of fly spray in this get up.
