A look at some of the most horrible examples of horse equipment on the market today.
Please remember, this blog is simply MY opinions. Everyone has some and like armpits, some stink! It is all subjective anyway. I am not telling anyone what to use at all. I am just making observations and stating my own likes and dislikes. If you do not agree, fine, you are entitled. THERE IS NO ONE RIGHT WAY.
Please, read and enjoy and try not to be ugly to others. Everyone has a right to their opinions.

Trooper B
B for BLUE. I was so stunned when I saw this in an email from a reader that I actually sat with my mouth hanging open for a few seconds. This is amazingly ugly, and probably amazingly cheaply made too. I still sit and stare thinking, "OMG, really?"
I've NEVER seen a saddle this color! And i hope i will never see it on a saddle again! That saddle looks weird (aside from the color and stirrups) It just doesn't look like a well. . . saddle. It looks backwards to me.
It looks like a odd reproduction. I'll have to compare that to my fascinating book of military tack and fittings. The real thing is very practical - this is just weird. Purple?!
If I ever own a very light coloured grey I will have to have a blue saddle. (Mercedes Lackey fans will probably agree) However... it wont be THAT saddle, or that shade of blue. eew.
tsk tsk tsk. Do we not know an Ewok saddle when we see one? Or perhaps it's a Klingon take of a dragon saddle from Avatar? Or maybe the saddle maker was really REALLY dyslexic?
I think the seat is set on the saddle backwards. Oh wait! Dang, how could I have been so stupid? It's a Backwards-Day Avatar Dragon Saddle made cheaply by out of work Klingons after the Vulcan revolution.
So, I know this post is a few years old by now.. But I can't help it; for all the clueless, trooper saddles exist. Tucker has a model, and they're apparently popular for field trials and with rocky mountain horses. Also, any saddle with tapaderos that hasn't been ridden in yet always has the stirrups backwards so you can see them.
Also, since I now own one of these; no, it's not the most high end thing ever and I'm amazed oil soaked through the finish, but it isn't cardboard. It's fairly comfortable, and for the moment is the saddle that fits the 19yr old gal's back. Though since she's palomino, the saddle would better suit her in a shade of red, purple or an extreme teal.. ;)
Oh, I just noticed, the stirrup is on backward too. I was so shocked by the color that I totally missed it.
ReplyDeleteWHAT IS IT?
ReplyDeleteWho thought THIS was a good idea?

ReplyDeleteAll I see is a number of places to get your leg pinched or rubbed raw, if you chose to actually ride in/on the featured contraption.
ReplyDeleteIt looks kinda purpley to me and I still don't like it.
I wasn't sure if the stirrups were on backwards OR if the whole thing were backwards. Then I realized it looked AWFUL no matter which end was which.
ReplyDeleteWho designs these things and even worse, who buys them?
Are these blue flaps supposed to be fenders ? =-( Yikes !
ReplyDeleteThat color is GROSS!
ReplyDeleteOh my. That thing looks like something from the show F Troop.

ReplyDelete...which end is which?
ReplyDeleteI think its a replica military saddle, but...but...but...
My first reaction was "What the hell...?" Still is.
ReplyDeleteIs the stirrup on backwards, or the seat?

I knew it had a simple explanation...
I'm with those wondering which end is which...I am so confused.
ReplyDeleteAnd it is so ugly.
It looks like it was made by someone who didn't understand how a saddle worked and only vaguely remembered several that they'd seen.
