A look at some of the most horrible examples of horse equipment on the market today.
Please remember, this blog is simply MY opinions. Everyone has some and like armpits, some stink! It is all subjective anyway. I am not telling anyone what to use at all. I am just making observations and stating my own likes and dislikes. If you do not agree, fine, you are entitled. THERE IS NO ONE RIGHT WAY.
Please, read and enjoy and try not to be ugly to others. Everyone has a right to their opinions.

Floral
Well, it's, um...different. Looks like the seat was made from an old set of drapes from grandma's house. I have no idea where you would use this, except for schooling or trails. It is pretty fugly.
It looks like a polo saddle to me, with the extra slit being for an overgirth. I imagine someone had it specially made with the carpet seat for more grip, maybe?
Wow...my 16 year old daughter says the slit could be for the excess of long stirrup leathers. It goes thru the keeper, then folds back under the flap and the excess pokes back thru the slit from the inside. Real tacky looking she says, but if your leathers are real long it works. She has seen it used this way at a local show.
I wouldn't even go hacking in that and I surely wouldn't school in that!! My grandmother doesn't even have drapes that look like that! But I really don't have anything bad to say about the saddle pad exept that it kinda looks like a bath towel with tassles.
Whoaa.. if any endurance rider (as I understand most people here thinks we are kind of colorblind or something .LOL.) would use this, It has to be blind rider with blind grooms. I would kill the person who puts saddle like that on my horse :D
Eeeewwwwww!
ReplyDeleteI like the fact that the pad could have been grandma's bath mat too.
And what is with the slit AND keeper for the leathers?
ReplyDeleteBath mat: I have a couple western saddle blankets for throw rugs! The proper saddle pad would be grandma's fluffy pink cotton bathmat.
ReplyDeleteThat is a whole new kind of horrendous and yes, what happened with the slit and the keeper?
ReplyDeleteI'd be wary of saddle makers who obviously have no idea what they're doing.
Looks like it's sitting on grandma's OLD bathmat!
Oh dear .......
Could the slit be for an over-girth like on an Aussie saddle? Weird....and thats beside the point that it looks like a carpet bag from Mary Poppins.
ReplyDelete...wow.
ReplyDeleteEven an endurance person wouldn't use this.
I hope.

ReplyDeletePolo saddle. The slot is for the overgirth. That slot makes life easier for the grooms as the overgirth stays with the saddle!
ReplyDeleteThe flaps are probably rough-out as well.
I don't think it looks like a top quality polo saddle, but the same thing made by "Polo Gear" or "Tackeria", and I'd think about it.
Definatly an ugly polo saddle

ReplyDeletePolo for the Floral Set? Why am I having trouble picturing a polo player actually riding in this saddle? I wonder if it matched the sofa.
ReplyDeleteVery strange slit position. There is no legitimate reason for it. My goodness....this is just odd
