Scary Pink Saddle of the Week

Wow, let's see, here we have ostrich leather, conchos, two-colored seat (nothing else on the saddle is black, why make half the seat black?), weird strap things over the swells, and little frilled lizard leather conchos. Yuck, and the sad thing is it looks like a well made little saddle. There seems to be a never ending supply of these things that look like they were splashed with Pepto.

  1. This is not as bad as some in the past.

  2. It looks very weird. I notice it has a concho on the horn, why? I cna only imagine if you had to grab it in a "oh shit" moment that would hurt! I wonder if the weird strap things are covering something up? All in all a very badly made saddle.

  3. I am with H. If we put all the pink weirdness in a pile, this one is not so bad

  4. I think if more of it had black leather, then the three-toned look would be alright, but as it is, the black seat looks totally out of place. The red leather saddle strings add to that horribleness factor. If they, a few of the pink accents and maybe the horn were black it would equal out and look alright I think.

  5. Agreed. It is an ugly saddle, but does not compell me to start pouring bleach in my eyes. My guess is, the extra strap around the pommel and the horn cap are simply there for extra bling.

  6. The girth strap is black :).......I keep looking at that, thinking Good & Plenty (candies).

  7. The combination of colors is horrendous. The string in back is burgundy, mixed with the pink and light leather because? They couldn't have found a piece of leather to match, or made that strip of leather black? It would have been that difficult to make this saddle acceptable (at least to those that actually "like" pink saddles, but they failed miserably!

  8. Yeah, why IS the seat black?

If it weren't black, and if the pink-and-conchos look were toned down a little, it might actually be bearable.

  9. if the pink were a dark brown I would have to admit it was a beautiful saddle. I don't ride western though so I wouldnt buy it, but it'd look cool, lol.

  10. Not as horrific as most, the concho on the horn is called a horn cap and quite common on show saddles- which this obviously is not.

I have to agree with the comments about the seat though. Why the two tone? What gives? and maybe just leave the saddle strings off? It could quickly improve the overall look.

Otherwise I actually kind of like this one. Do they make it in purple?

  12. Ironically, I was at a buyers show for my job on Weds and the company who makes it ( H & H Saddlery) was there and had this on display. I actually took a picture of it with my phone with the intent of emailing it to you!!!! I actually have a couple of scary pink saddles I took pics of while there. The same company makes one with a pink ostrich or suede seat. the horse, stirrups and cantle are rawhide trim... doens't sound bad right? Well H & H has discovered a way to "tie-dye" the rawhide pieces! oh and the seat was embroidered with running foals.....

It's funny but everytime I see a saddle with pink, I think of your blog lol

  13. Cut-n-jump , yes h & H will make it in purple, as well as lime , red, royal, navy, white, yellow, orange and a host of other colors. I just ow actually read all the comments about this saddle and must come to the manufactor's defense on the quality, while it may be ugly and definately not my pick to ride in H & H makes very nice quality saddles. I myself own 2 by H & H and love them. H & H makes everything from american materials and makes them to order. They don't keep a whole heck of a lot of stock on hand, they make it when you order it... I love dealing with this company
