A look at some of the most horrible examples of horse equipment on the market today.
Please remember, this blog is simply MY opinions. Everyone has some and like armpits, some stink! It is all subjective anyway. I am not telling anyone what to use at all. I am just making observations and stating my own likes and dislikes. If you do not agree, fine, you are entitled. THERE IS NO ONE RIGHT WAY.
Please, read and enjoy and try not to be ugly to others. Everyone has a right to their opinions.

For those of you becoming desensitized...
I have for you a selection of saddles that should remedy that.
Ok...call me crazy but I totally like that last one. Maybe minus the all-over tooling, jewels, and black outline doolies...but I like it. You can just tell its quality.
I know what you mean about the last one. It is a little much but toned down a bit it might be ok. This is the first saddle were the tiger print seems to work.
First one should only serve as decoration in a four year old girls room... second one... AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH MY EYES!!!!! I like the last one, minus the black tooling thing... and maybe the seat, but since you'd be sitting on it, it's not bad, also given that it would probably wear out with use... stunning how you find a constant supply of ugly saddles!
I love the last saddle. It SCREAMS "Quality Custom Work."
Minus the tiger strips. Is that stingray? Isn't that a new trend in "sticky" seats? Does it really work? Is it durable? All I can think of is the great eelskin fad of the 80s. My mom's credit cards allegedly got de-magnetized in an eelskin wallet....
The first saddle doesn't bother me as much as it should, but the second one looks like a 4th grader painted it with that bright blue tempura paint we had in elementary school.
The first one is waaayyyy too frilly, the second one is just hideous and the third one, though a quality saddle is overdone. I LOVE tigers, so the tiger print seat is pretty cool, but combined with all the other stuff, it is over the top.
First and second...ouch..and the second one, literally...what the heck is up with the rise on that seat??? Can we say PAIN much?? Third, I agree...with some toning down, a nice saddle :)
First and second are just horrible and horrible in that order :-P. The last one, I am with those who pointed out that minus the tiger seat and the star it is quite nice.
I agree with Elisabet--that last saddle would look great without the stars and the seat cover. I'll have to check out that lady's website.
First one...I like the colors, actually, but then again I'm a sucker for purple, blue and green together. But it's too busy for me, definitely. And I hate trophy saddles that have the name, year, etc. stamped into them. Why not just a nice saddle with a brass plaque on the back of the seat? Then the rider can remove it if they want to.
Second one...reminds me of when people will put neon lights around their license plate or lower their truck and put neon lights along the bottom of it so it glows. I bet that saddle would be even more hideous if the turquoise was glow in the dark.
Wow, you do have a never ending supply of ugly saddles! The first one would be a cute decoration for a little girl's purple room but other than that, I'm not sure I'd be happy to win it. Now KatPhoti....don't put down the neon era of low riders! Those undercarriage neons looked better than the fingerpainting on the second saddle!LOL! Second saddle ...... why is there, why would you want...the seat...well, the rise, what the???? Third one..looks well constructed but not my cup of tea! Yep! Uh huh! Hmmmmmm..... openhorseshowjudge.blogspot.com
the 2nd one is a JCPENNEY special from years ago. I had someone on MYSPACE actually ask me to help him price one that was his Dads and needed to sell it on CList. I was shocked when I saw it and he was offended when I said GOOD LUCK WITH THAT, that thing is fugly...
The last one is kinda cool to me... that thought kinda scares me and kinda intrigues, what will I like next. I see myself dyeing my hair that terrible out of the bottle red/orange and going to town in all the jewelry I own.... uhg oh,snort.... that must have been a bad dream, glad I am awake now..
#1 goes in the "makes me think of cake frosting" category: combined with wording makes me think of frosted motorcycles. Not a good image.
#2 My Shock Treatement: Re-sensitized me How Bad They Can Be. The blue...ahhhhhh...it's SO HIDEOUS. I may need therapy. Medication! My mommy!
#3 um. I must have a nostalgia thing going on here. I LOVE it. Craftsmanship is outstanding, and unfortunately my butt would be big enough to hide the zebra print. It's the singing cowboy style saddle that makes me want to give up dressage and pick up a ukulele. Hoooome home on the raaaaaaange.....
I swear that the people making these have got to be color blind. At least I hope they are. LOL. And for any one buying them too.
ReplyDeleteThe last one is a Debra Sibley saddle.
ReplyDeleteThey're custom made, so it was ordered like that.
Debra Sibley saddles are freakin' amazing, though. (Construction wise)

I actually like that last one a little minus the horrible seat. Looks like a well made saddle.
ReplyDeleteWow, I checked out http://www.debrasibleysaddles.com/ and they're quite reasonably priced....

ReplyDeleteIf that saddle had rough out fenders, and no friggin' star, I'd like it a lot. It would be even better with a SUEDE black seat.
ReplyDeleteI hate running barrels in a stingray seat. It hurts.
I also hate the croc seat, which this saddle also has.
However, Debra Sibley saddles are amazing (which I already said haha) and I am thinking about saving up for one.
I liked the last one until I got to the seat. GAAAAAHHHH!

I... like.... the stars on the 3rd one.
ReplyDeleteThere - I said it. And I'm scared of Texas!

ReplyDeleteI'm strangely entranced by the last saddle..
ReplyDeleteThe last one is kinda cool to me... that thought kinda scares me and kinda intrigues, what will I like next. ReplyDeletethe second saddle's seat reminds me of a camel... and its outlined in blue.... just why?
ReplyDeleteYou are right. I was becoming desensitized.
ReplyDeleteFortunately, you have saved me!
