Oddly appealing...

You know, every once in awhile someone sends me something that I go to look at expecting to absolutely hate it, then oddly enough, I sit, scratching my head and actually LIKING it. The more I look, the more I like. I know, I know, I'm slipping. I just find this particular saddle to be somewhat intriguing. I mean, honestly, you wouldn't see most of the tooling when you were in this saddle, but it looks right sharp when your butt isn't obscuring it. I bet it would look way spiff in black too. It also looks incredibly well made and comfortable. Probably gawd-awful expensive though.

    Looks like a "wenglish", half-english and half-western saddle! It isn't bad, but not my cup of tea.

    I do know someone with a tooled dressage saddle - a custom - Black Country saddle..........fine piece of workmanship, but obviously NOT the only one around...........

    That's a gorgeous dressage saddle! I normally hate gaudy tooling but this saddle is actualy elegant and very nice to look at. It would look great on a warmblood or a thoroughbred in my opinion.

    I like it - the amount of tooled area on the saddle is restrained, and the size of the flowers and overall scale of the designs are appropriate to the spaces. Nor does the coloring leap out and attack the eyeballs.

    I like it. I think the saddle would look better as a whole if the browns didn't contrast so much but then you wouldn't notice the tooling.

    It's really a nice way to spiff up English tack without adding something that will make people want to vomit.

    I also like this. Normally I am thinking one of three things when I check on the Tacky Tack find of the day: WTF?,'barf'or 'meh'. This one appealed right away. It is elegant and the leathers contrast nicley.

    I really LIKE this saddle! I would be proud to own it but I bet it comes with a hefty price tag! I have to say though that it might start a trend. Somebody will try to add some bling and someone else will want some icky color....

    YUCK YUCK YUCK YUCK YUCK. I'm sorry, if I wanted my saddle to have tooling or look Western, I'd buy a WESTERN saddle. That is ugly, hands down!

    On a TB or Northern European Warmblood, NO. NO NO NONONONONO.

    On a Spanish horse, including that type of Arab, TOTALLY!!

    Or if you were really into ultra classical dressage....

    It does look like something from the RenFaire (but you ARE SCA Equestrian, ha ha), but very nicely done.

    It looks totally Mediterranean, very pretty in that idiom. Most of all, it's very well made.

    Not for the horses from the Pale People Countries (where my ancestors are from). On a lanky TB, it would be like a blonde boy with dreadlocks. WRONG.

    Yes to cattypex. And I wonder how a dressage judge would look at it. Isn't the point of dressage a gorgeous horse and a nearly unnoticeable rider?

    We sure as heck don't need "english" shows to be all about the bling.

    Having said that, I think that saddle is gorgeous, and in very good taste, and would love to own it!

    Think I'll go buy a lottery ticket.
