A reader sent me a link to this saddle this morning. The price for it is nearly $6000. Yes, I said $6000. I actually jumped back from the computer screen when I saw it. I also let loose a string of expletives. It actually STARTLED me. I really don't know what to think of it. I am all for showing your love for your homeland, but perhaps it should be, I don't know, not under your BUTT?
Brace yourselves, proper eye protection highly recommended.

Geez people...I know it's an English saddle, but come on.
ReplyDeleteWTF! Are you kidding me 6000? What brand is it?
ReplyDeleteNow wait......this could work (although NOT at $6K a pop)......
ReplyDeleteA drill team of at least 10-12 grey ponies, ridden by starry-eyed pre-teens.....LOL....
Otherwise, I'm going back to look at the mermaid saddle.....LOL.....
I hate to say it, but I like it..not for 6 large. It's fun. I agree with Diane for a drill team. Or, a parade, an award. And there is always the trail saddle you know deep in the woods where you need to be seen by hunters and no one else.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like some one put alot of time into it.. and I can appreciate the craftsmanship. Mabye a different country, with different color palette
ReplyDelete6 grand for that? I am in the wrong business!
ReplyDeleteOw. It hurts to be british. and Paul the small... Thats the british flag. If you were going for a pun the saddle would be white with red cross. So they have actually made an english saddle a british saddle.
ReplyDeleteWow.... Hey if they rode that in the olympics, we'd all know who they were representing.... Who ever made that needs to go into the looney bin. That is the craziest thing I have ever seen someone do with leather......
ReplyDeleteAre you sure that was US dollars & not British pounds (which would work out to considerably more in USD)?
ReplyDeleteVery Ginger Spice circa 1997.
ReplyDeleteThat is so not worth $6000. ! I could think of any number of things I would much rather spend that much money on. and some of them would be loads more fun.
ReplyDeleteOMG.... I can hear The Clash in my head.
ReplyDeleteRemember when Union Jack Doc Martens were all the rage with the cool punk kids? Yeah.
Austin Powers uses this saddle, right?
It reminds me of those horrible NASCAR jackets.
Then again, it DOES look well-made.
Sooooo maybe Nigel Tufnel had it made, after he became a haberdasher.
OK I gotta stop.
But that is the coolest tackyass thing I HAVE EVER SEEN.
ANARCHY IN THE UK!!!!
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaa!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDoes it come in AC/DC? Actually, wouldn't be bad if the seat, knee rolls & lower part of the flaps were black. And if I had it, I'd spend long dollar on a top French saddle- maybe not 6k, but 2-3-4?
If it came in AC/DC then it would be.... uh.... back in black.
ReplyDelete: P
Actually it is a Devoucoux brand from France. Apparently it is an eventing saddle, and can be made in ANY flag pattern. Oh, my, I can only imagine.
ReplyDeleteThank you thank you thank you for the laugh. Whoo-eee...hahahahahaha
ReplyDeleteSaddle: obviously well made. But WHY??? Who?? Then when cattypex said NASCAR and it all clicked...JUMPERS! The jumps are already tricked out, have we gotten to Pimp My Saddle?
It's ugly as hell, but it IS kind of cool in a cheeky way.
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't be nearly as cool in a US flag or Italian flag.
It would be cool in red with a hammer 'n' sickle, though...
Right? RIGHT????????????????????
Seriously, I can tell its an ENGLISH saddle...
ReplyDeletethey also have one with american flag print.
ReplyDeleteNow THATs an english saddle! I actually saw this for sale a year or so ago, but couldn't find it again. They also had an AMERICAN FLAG saddle! This makes Phillip Dutton's saddle look boring.
ReplyDeleteI found it! I found it! Check out this bada$$!!!
