Just a little PSA to those who don't like my opinion, my other hobbies, my art, or how I look when working a horse at my home...
Please remember, this blog is simply MY opinions. Everyone has some and like armpits, some stink! It is all subjective anyway. I am not telling anyone what to use at all. I am just making observations and stating my own likes and dislikes. If you do not agree, fine, you are entitled. THERE IS NO ONE RIGHT WAY. Please, read and enjoy and try not to be ugly to others.
Everyone has a right to their opinions
If you don't like what I post, don't read it.
If you don't like what I look like, don't look.
If you don't like my art, don't look at it.
I am not claiming to be pro or anti-slaughter.
I am not pro or anti-Natural Horsmanship.
It is a free country, everyone has a right to voice their opinion, everyone has a right to not like that opinion.

You sound like Cathy
ReplyDeleteSorry, did not mean to! LOL
ReplyDeleteVery true. No one is forcing anyone to read this blog. If the blog does not suit a person, then that person can leave. And there is a difference between a troll and someone who politely disagrees.
ReplyDeleteKeep on finding tacky tack!

I find this blog very interesting, looks like it may become my second favorite (after fugly of course!) I also agree that western saddles covered with silver are a complete distraction from what should be a nice moving horse. And personally, I prefer a dark oil saddle (have a 45+ yr old Tex Tan that looks like a new saddle, minimal silver but classy and I use it for a breed show, open shows and fairs) I also have a newer Tex Tan that started life as a lighter oil, but I made it a medium oil, also has minimal silver but with basketweave and acorn carving on it. Very elegant. Keep up the good work! 8>)
ReplyDeleteWow! You have Trolls already!?!?! I guess that means you've arrived!
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm....I really think "beauty" is in the eye of the beholder. What chaps your hide, someone else will just love. A word to the wise, if you're out shopping for SERIOUS show equipment and you're intent on spending a large sum of money, AND you're showing at breed shows, make note of what exhibitors and their trainers are using for show equipment at these breed shows...brand names; ask questions of them; don't show up with something "Out of Idaho by Truck" and expect everyone to fall in love with what you're riding for tack as it just won't happen. There are fads and there are fads...behooves one to find something on the well made side in the saddle department; doesn't have to have a ton of bling but the bling that is there should be quality...nothing worse than nickel silver on a "show saddle". Pay attention to headstalls and bit shanks; see what is popular and what will work if you don't care to indulge in excess. If you're careful with your purchases, you won't experience buyer's remorse.
ReplyDeleteYou'll also want to take into consideration tack color; you may not like lighter colored tack, but, guaranteed if you arrive in darker colored leather at certain breed shows you'll stand out like a sore thumb and it will not be in your favor....
I enjoy fun tack with fun colors for the trail, but not for the show ring. Plus, color should NEVER be a choice over correct fitting tack for the horse. I can't stand most of the QH WP outfits and all the silver on the tack.
ReplyDeleteI ride saddleseat with TWHs, and we do allow fun colors, but it has to be tasteful. I love a bright blue saddleseat coat on a black horse with a blue browband and blue and white ribbons, but no more than that. Our saddles aren't covered with bling, and the clothes and tack cannot distract the judge from doing their job. Even our Western horses are tame by the current QH WP standards.
Great blog--I'll be keeping up with it! You can thank Fugly for directing us over here!

I love everyone’s differing opinions! And tacky tack is a big peeve of mine. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your blog! I pretty much agree with everything you post.
