Please bear with me, I am going through a very rough spot in my life. I may be offline for awhile. I may just post a picture for yall to critique for awhile.

    SCAE ~ I know we may be states apart and never get a chance to meet, but my thoughts and prayers are with you and whatever it is you are going through. I will admit I was begining to get worried when I didn't see a new post by Monday! If you need anything and I might can help please feel free to email me.....

    On another note that saddle... WTF???? UGLY

    I don't know what you are going through but my prayers are with you while you go through this difficult time. I too was getting worried with the light postings lately.

    'Bout the saddle Ugh! It looks like some sort of endurance/race saddle but Good God they don't have to make it so UGLY!

    Hope your rough spot smooths out ASAP!

    If I really need a dose of fugly I can dig out some of my own failed leatherworking projects. :)

    The color combination on this saddle is nice, but everything else about it is ug-as-in-UGLY. There are times I think I should just dive in and try making a saddle, I can't do any worse than some of the garbage people are trying to foist off on the public.

    It looks like those odd shaped Barbie horse saddles, molded out of plastic and painted.

    It IS an endurance saddle. If you look it up you can find it on multiple sites.It supposed to be lighter, smaller as to have less impact on the horse when it's competing.

    It's quite foreign looking - I don't likey likey, however it may be very comfy for horse and rider...who knows?

    Ditto on the rough spot, I feel as though if things don't smooth out soon I am going to trip and break my neck. Hope all works out ok, sending positive thoughts your way.

    This is a hideous saddle. Even if it is an endurance saddle could they not have tried to at least make it look good. I know endurance is all about form over function, but if the saddle is hard to look at then geez.

    I actually love the look of that saddle, and I'm not an endurance rider at all. I love the blue and black leather, it looks very well made; I would give it a try anyday even if I get funny looks from people.

    Wow, I LOVE the look of that saddle. Would take two of them anytime. One for each of my horses. Add white sheepskinn numnah. And would love it more. Really nice color combination. Nice design.

    Yes, that's a lightweight endurance saddle but I agree it is pretty way out looking.

    As for that saddle, the sad part is there is a similar Kieffer endurance saddle that ISN'T hideous.

    It does not look too bad to me. The fender is placed so that it protects the leg and nothing more. Actually looks comfortable. The color scheme, while different for a saddle, is actually quite nice. Out of all the saddles featured on this blog, I would say that this one is my "most likely to own".

    I hope the situation resolves for the better and you come out on top.

    As to the saddle - I don't like non-traditional color combos, like blue and black. I like the regular, all-black, all-brown, brown with black seat types. But I do like endurance. I ride gaited horses and have found out that stirrups are optional with those. I decent rider can ride a good gaited horse with his feet just hanging down all day long. So the long stirrups are nice, just something to stuff your toes in so they don't bump around. And my endurance saddle doesn't have a horn either - very nice feature when you go leaning on the horses neck while going under some limbs. A perfect saddle for trail riding gaited horse has just two must-haves: a comfy seat for the rider and comfy well-fitting underside for the horse.

    I know for a fact that my leg would not fit in that thing. My knees would be shooting out over the 'knee rolls' on it. Or is there a host of people who ride tipped forward constantly? The idea is not bad, but really, what kind of a leg is it based off of?

    It's a Gaston Mercier and last year an endurance friend had a green one for sale - the leather is to DIE for and so comfy to sit in! I sat in it, drooled and looked at it's USED price tag and reluctantly got off of it! The stirrups are actually free swinging, the tapaderos are for safety and dressage billets are the best for endurance riding! My own Free and Easy flexible panel saddle gave me a choice when I ordered it and I mistakenly ordered short billets - having your knees next to billet buckles for 100 miles is not kind to your horse! I changed mine out to long billets and my horse thanks me! And since my own tack colors are lime green AND purple combo, (beta/biothane bridle/breastcollar) this little number seems quite "tame"!! I do covet one of these brands though!!

    Endurance riders usually sit up and forward, I think.

    I went to the Gaston Mercier website, and I DO like their saddles - they look highly functional and thoughtfully designed for their discipline. I'm not an endurance rider, but I can appreciate the functionality of these saddles.

    I just like brown leather a whole lot.

    hmmmmm...I tried putting lines in...it still seems strange. I did look at their website and I do think they have some nice stuff, but this saddle, I think I feel like the fenders should be farther forward, does that make sense?

    I used to ride a(supposed) Top Deck descendent at Watchung Stables who was named-you guessed it-Top Deck ^^
