A look at some of the most horrible examples of horse equipment on the market today. Please remember, this blog is simply MY opinions. Everyone has some and like armpits, some stink! It is all subjective anyway. I am not telling anyone what to use at all. I am just making observations and stating my own likes and dislikes. If you do not agree, fine, you are entitled. THERE IS NO ONE RIGHT WAY. Please, read and enjoy and try not to be ugly to others. Everyone has a right to their opinions.
Wow that truely is hideous. At least it's a pony saddle I suppose.... although not a great one... little one would have to fight to get right position.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's really pink! The stirrup is hung incorrectly, too. The rubber band should be on the leading edge.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh my eyes about popped out of my face when I saw this... sheesh will give you nightmares...
ReplyDeleteOkay, I have to admit... I think this would be cute on a pony... but maybe only a solid colored pony- on a paint, or even one with high whites, it would be distracting. WTF is with the girth though? It looks like a wester back cinch with english buckles- like it's made of nothing but leather... certainly doesn't look comfy.
ReplyDeleteI don't ride english, so I can't tell what about it would make it hard to get in the right position. Does anyone want to enlighten me?
AAAwwwwwwww....(running down the hallway from the big pink thing!!!)
ReplyDeleteThe unending supply of scary pink saddles is truly mind boggling! I agree on the cinch... WTH!!! It looks like it is totally made of leather and would rub the poor horse's belly raw. OOWWWIE!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised the rubberband on the peacock stirrup ISN'T pink. Or the stirrup pad, too. Heck, even the stirrups themselves - I've seen all those items sold in pink.
ReplyDeleteMy eyes!... they burn. Take it away!
ReplyDeleteYeah, Kaylyn. The rubber on the reins is also not pink. So, what, four missed pink-portunities?
ReplyDeleteOh god why the need for all that pink. Not to mention the cardboard-like leather pink girth. I pity the poor pony that would have to wear that. Maybe they could get a pink fleece girth cover to help not make the poor pony bleed.
ReplyDeleteJeepers! Please tell me that thing is made to fit on a Barbie horse.
ReplyDeleteAre you ever going to describe/show/tell about incorrectly fitted tack?
ReplyDeleteOr is it really all about your idea of good taste?
Meantime, even your "acceptable" saddles/bridles are being incorrectly fitted.
You immediately assume this saddle won't fit.
Show the readers WHY.
High Horses abound here.
Sad, really.
GoLightly said: "Or is it really all about your idea of good taste?"
ReplyDeleteDid you actually read the banner at the top of this page? The title of the blog should give a clue "Tacky Tack of the Day". And the author clearly states that these are her OPINIONS and like assholes...everyone has one. This blog isn't about properly or improperly fitting tack....or if it is I must have missed that day.
GAG. I don't mind "accents" I suppose, but this is totally overkill. Not to mention the odd mix of leather and synthetic.
ReplyDeleteUm, golightly, you might want to check the hieght of your OWN horse. Wanna point out for us where anyone states it won't fit the HORSE?
Only in the COMMENTS does anyone note that the saddle looks like it would put the RIDER in a bad position. NOT THE BLOGGER.
I can't say I agree or disagree with the sentiment until I see it on a pony. Once it's on an animal then you can trully tell if the seat is level, etc. Honestly, most tiny-tots want to sit in a chair seat any way, so it's relative.
All leather girths... Yeah, I'm guessing there aren't too many side-saddle riders here. The correct girth for a ss has no elastic and isn't even shaped at the elbows. They survive just fine. I also had an adjustable girth for YEARS that had no elastic. Did the job I needed it for, didn't gall anyone, and you sure as heck couldn't over tighten it either. This one looks like a half-ass attempt at making a Fitzwilliam girth, as there are loops on the girth.
Oh, and YEAH, the blogger is blogging about her PERSONAL TASTE. Read the top of the page, for comprehension this time. Either way, it is still not a crime to express an opinion.
OMG that is hideous ...... blaaaaah!
ReplyDeleteEnglish leather girths were often like this one and caused no ill effect if fitted and maintained correctly. The edges on this one look a little sharp but other than that just a 'regular' old style (before neoprene & synthetics)leather girth.
And golightly, please brush up on your comprehension skills before attempting to stir the pot of that which needs no stirring.
I remember folded-leather girths...
ReplyDeleteBut....
What's up with the keeper-looking thingy on said girth?
And while *I* am appalled, after working with 4H Mini kids for a season, those little girls are ALL about the pink stuff, and it CAN look hella cute on a pony.
I don't have any problems with an all leather girth, but this one looks like the leather is stiff, really cheap and with sharp edges. In other words uncomfortable for the horse.
ReplyDeleteActually, I just bought this saddle set... and I am looking for more of them. The saddle is very well made (much nicer than I expected.) And the Girth is Supple with all hand rubbed edges. The strap on the Girth (that someone asked about) is a keeper for the excess billets.
ReplyDeleteAs far as why I would buy a Pepto-Pink Saddle??? I have miniature horses and I take them for Therapy in Nursing Homes and Day Cares for Special Needs Children... Bright Colors bring smiles to their faces and they are more driven to reach out and touch the Ponies. And, Yes, I put this saddle on a solid Bay without any markings and it sure does liven her look up. These Saddles are a Huge Hit!!! I need 3 more... anyone know where to get them?
where can you find this? I want one!
ReplyDeleteA lot of tack that look horrible on the rack looks great on certain equines I had a pink and black syn. Looked great on my all white mustang even had pink polos
ReplyDeleteYeah it's pretty crazy looking and I'm sure this, one of those all inclusive sets is not going to hold up like a nice HDR or Collegiate....but being a mommy, I do find the appeal in the pink stuff for my kids, maybe more accessories though, like cute but useless unless my 3 year old decides to say take up Dressage, pink polo wraps....maybe we can stick to silly halters and cute dress sheets, but honestly anything to get the kids excited about the horse world, as long as its a SAFE product
