This thing looks like a freaking easter egg. Hideous, truly hideous. I can't stand the painted flowers, it makes it look cheap and this is NOT a cheap saddle. It sold new for like, $2000.

I have to say, this isn't too bad. I kind of think it's pretty. However, I would never EVER pay $2,000.00 for it. I think it would be cute for just a practice saddle or maybe for parades or something.
ReplyDeletePurple & green can actually be used to compliment each other nicely. Not in these tints, hues, shades or tones though. And not with the two tone saddle colors either.
ReplyDeleteCalling it an Easter egg was incredibly nice on your part. I'm not sure what to call it though. It does look reasonably well made, but Blech on the color choices and accents.
Normally nice colors not working well here. At least there is restraint on the coverage - it could have been worse.
ReplyDeleteI highly doubt that this saddle came from the factory in it's present unfortunate condition. Yikes it's ugly now. Why would someone do this to a perfectly nice saddle?
ReplyDeleteJust found this blog a few days ago and love it. Are all of the brightly colored tacky saddles Western? Do English riders ever feel tempted to drink the colored kool aid?
ReplyDeleteMuch as I agree they're tacky, there's a little part of me that likes the bright colors - they're so audacious. And, well, tacky.
I do like the purple seat. I do not like the icky green in the flowers, or the color or cut of the fender. It looks like a butt--we are being mooned here!
ReplyDeletecarol...there have been many hideously colored English saddles featured here so it is not just a Western thing. Just scroll to the bottom of the home page and click on "older posts" to look at the posts from previous days...bright pink, red, blue, green....yikes!
ReplyDeleteThis was a "custom painted" saddle on Ebay for, get this, $1,600 if I remember right.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a few different things:
ReplyDelete1. A very elaborate wedding cake
2. Those white slip ceramic things that senior citizens paint
3. Someone who writes Mercedes Lackey fanfic decorated a saddle
