Ok, this is quite possibly THE most bizarre thing I have ever seen. WHY would you want this? It looks like something from a bad 70's porn. Can you imagine how uncomfortable this would be to ride? Seems to me that the hair would end up matted up in your butt crack! Or, could you braid it and then ride on it to make dreadlocks? Or perhaps you are supposed to use this if you are a nudist and fond of "bareback" riding?
Hey look, the second one comes with a matching saddle pad!
Yikes
Are you supposed to BRUSH it? I already have to brush my horse enough...why would I want to brush my saddle? And think how hot that would be under your butt (I live in the south).
ReplyDeleteIt kinda looks like *excuse my French* pubic hair...
/facepalm. And I thought Teskey's was very well known for quality saddles too.
ewww. Gross, can't imagine riding in that after a long hard hot day.
ReplyDeleteCheck out the STIRRUPS. They even have fur trim to match the seat. It does come across as slightly obscene, like pubic hair. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteActually, wool would keep you cool. It insulates both ways. That's why sheepskin pads are so nice - shearling sheepskin pads.
ReplyDeleteBut that looks like mohair and while mohair does about the same thing, it's not going to do it in the curls and certainly wouldn't do anything but "look purty" as a curly saddle blanket. What a baaaad idea Yup it would just mat up and you'd have to groom it too!
I'm embarrassed and I used to raise Angora goats.
That is just odd. There really aren't words to describe how strange you'd have to be to 1. come up with something like that in the first place, and 2. actually find that attractive enough to spend money on.
ReplyDeleteNot attractive. And the stuff on the stirrups looks particularly bad. Yeah, I agree, like pubic hair --- more like a (pardon the term) pubic hair scalp.
ReplyDeleteNasty saddles.
1st one: get rid of the hair and its actually quite nice.
ReplyDelete2nd one: PUBES!!!!
Perhaps these saddles were designed for Lady Gadiva?
I would actually like for you to post the prices of these things, too. I would just like to know how much one of these things is sold for.
ReplyDeleteI really love the hair on the stirrups. Just the thing to catch and hold weed seeds, foxtail grass seeds, needle grass seeds, twigs from brush, and who knows what else all.
ReplyDeleteYup, very practical--not.

EWWWWWWWWW thats just horrid ... speaking of horrid.... check out this barrel saddle they have... it's a scary pink saddle worthy of ur blog

Without the pubes the second saddle would be pretty!!! Its a shame to pube it up.
ReplyDeleteJust because you CAN make something like this does not mean you should. Both are just nasty, but can you imagine this on an english saddle??!! If I want fur next to my butt I'll just ride bareback, thanks.
ReplyDeleteI had a friend who was disabled and she rode with a sheepskin saddle cover. She said it helped her not get pressure sores. I thought anything that keeps her riding was a goodthing, however I think even she would have had no use for this saddle. Her sheepskin covered not only the seat but also down towards the stirrups. This just looks tacky.
ReplyDelete1. Beautiful saddles!
ReplyDelete2. BUT...*W* *T* *F*
first one is "ok" (the seat at least)..if it is sheepskin. if it is something else, it would prob get tangled up...
ReplyDeletesecond...pubes was my thought too...ICK!
As an endurance rider though, we all LOVE (well, most us, not all, LOL) our sheepskin covers...most like them "short" fur, but mine I make myself now and use "long" sheared hides...I like the thickness and comfort it gives. It also DOES insulate both from cold and heat...it is slippery at first, but after a few rides felts up a little and is great stuff and actually helps you stick in the saddle better, while retaining enough "slide" that you don't get road rash...
this is beyond tacky - we are now in the realm of weird
ReplyDeleteI am with those who think it looks like "the downstairs carpet" if you get my drift. Ish!
ReplyDeleteBrings a whole new meaning to carpet/rug burns while doing the deed. Thoes are just plain wrong.
ReplyDeleteCom' On everyone lets go ride the Pubic Pony!
Well.... like the old saying goes, the drapes should match the carpet....
ReplyDelete... and the seat should match the stirrups, it appears.
Seriously now, are these promoted towards the Furry set? You know the people who dress up like animals as part of their sexual encounters... I can imagine they might like something like this, but then wouldn't the seat need special cleaning??? Eeeewwww!
ReplyDeleteI had an old halter and mecate, both made of horsehair. My gelding would not let me near him with either one unless he was already caught and wearing a halter. Then he merely tolerated either one.
Coming at him with the pad, the saddle or both- I would bet it would just freak him the f#ck out!
I'm old enough that it reminds me of a "Poodle Coat" (curly mohair, meant to look like poodle fur.)
ReplyDeleteWhoever (too lazy to scroll up!) said 'just because you can, doesn't mean you should' deserves the ribbon of the day.
Poodle murderers! Poodle murderers!
ReplyDeleteThe part about the nudists is VERY funny. My dad's friend would really love these. He rides a lot and has run in a nudist race. Now he can combine his hobbies.
