The "bling" phenomenon seems to be growing, rhinestones spreading like a bad rash. Now people are bedecking every available surface with as many as they can cram onto them. Here we have a selection of stirrups for your Western saddle.
Hmmm, not TOO offensive. A rather muted color scheme.
Erm, is that supposed to be flames?
Another set that is fairly tame.
And then, these. Ouch. I do believe even the metal of the stirrups is pink.
Now we have the next new thing in "bling" (God I hate that word), HOOFBLING! Not just some sparkle hoof polish, but actual rhinestone designs to put on your horsies little toes.
NO, NO, NO! It is a HORSE not a @*#^$ POODLE!!
Do those horses live on concrete or something? And have poop bags attached to their butts? You can't even take them into the show ring to show off those sparkly hooves because of the footing. What a waste of money.

ReplyDeleteLook, an iHoof!
ReplyDeleteIn classic Bondi Blue!!
Haha, I had a standard poodle, and the most extensive thing I did to him was dye him colors. I would never put anything 'bling-like' on him.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with RandomBucknellian, unless those horses are going to be shown on concrete and live in a bare wooden stall with a hard floor and no bedding they're wasting a lot of time and money. The show arena flooring, dirt/sand mix usually would have that stuff off or just ruined in minutes. And not to mention the horses' bodily messes at night in the stall, as well as the sawdust. Definately a waste of time/money.
No. No. No. This is just wrong. The blinged out stirrups? I can move on from that but not those sparkly hooves. Looks like something a stripper would decorate themselves with.
ReplyDeletePoodle horses! HAHA--that's what we used to call the horses all wrapped up and all you could see were their eyes. I felt sorry for the poor things. Let the horse be a "horse" for goodness sake!
ReplyDeleteI mentioned this to someone at my dentist's office that owned horses and she gave me the "glare". I guess she was one of those horse owners with a poodle horse....OOPS (snicker, snicker)!
I actually like the toned down blingy stirrups. The pink ones would just make my eyes hurt...but nothing pink will ever be on my horse. I've actually been looking for some bling stirrups because I think they're fun but I'm picky with what I buy.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the hoof bling goes, it would be PERFECT for a parade if you were able to put it on the morning of. But it would all depend on how easy it is to take off. If I can't get it off when I want to then I'm not putting it on 'em.
Oh, I would SO do those hoofie blings for a parade or something similiar.....but I would want them on something I could use more than once. Bell boots, maybe????
ReplyDeleteI like those stirrups, too.....especially that first pair......
I use Elmer's Glitter Glue on my horse's hooves for parades. It washes of in the wet grass and is non-toxic and costs a whole lot less hoof glitter polish. I even use it in manes and tails and for stars on the butt. But those stones??? YUCK!
ReplyDeleteOFF Topic for scaequestrian.
ReplyDeleteAre you coming east this weekend for the Markland Battle Of Hastings in Maryland? It's supposed to be a great weekend complete with a Viking Long Ship coming up the Chesapeake and landing.
Ow my eyes. I'm home sick and looking at some of these seriously hurt my eyes. WOW!
ReplyDeleteAnd the hoof garbage, belongs in the garbage! Someone is just going to turn those into a way of hiding faults on their horse's hooves.
Ladypr... that sounds SO FREAKING COOL.
ReplyDeleteNo God-fearing poodle owner( with the exception of a couple) would put that stuff on them, that stuff reminds me of something you would find on a barbie horse

No, I don't do Markland, I don't think there is a group in the area. I am a die-hard SCAdian, and besides thats a LOOOOOONNNGGG way from our fair Kingdom of Gleann Abhann! Sounds like it would be fun tho!
I actually love the type of stirrup..hate the pink ones, but thats only because I HATE the color pink.
ReplyDeleteI'm saving up for some custom bling barrel stirrups..
The hooves are just weird. I don't even understand why someone would do that..
I am a member of the Medieval Horse Guild. We are a sub-group of Markland, sort of. So we get to go to Hastings. I'll be there all weekend, begining to end. I can't wait. I missed Hastings last year.
ReplyDeleteI love the ihoof...good call, cattypex! But what applications does it have?
ReplyDeleteAll these rhinestones reminds me of the "jean jewewls" the backstreet boys tried to put out a few years ago lol

i though the stirrups where getting bad.
ReplyDeleteuhm, there isnt a thing wrong with "bling" overall i think this is a turning point for the arena. and to the owner of this site, sorry your stuck in the medevil ages.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I LOVE some of those stirrups!!! I do really love crystals though. However the hooves, ummmm, no, just no. Those look like the little fake crystals you can get for your cell phone or ipod.
ReplyDeleteI was so excited to see a pair of my stirrups pinned to Pinterest - until I saw it was a "Tacky Tack" blog lol. Bling is still in and bigger than ever. Anyone interested can check order from me - please find "Sassy Cactus" on Facebook!

ReplyDeleteThese stirrups are beautiful. They are not made for everyday use.Only shows. And the "bling" on the hooves are the stick on ones. They don't embed them in the hoof. Also only for parades and such. Competition will not let you put bling on the hooves, and only some will let you use the bling stirrups. I love em!
