Not Bad

Thought I would leave this week on a slightly less scary note. Now, I don't ride Western, not any more at least, but I really like the copper combined with the silver on this saddle. Nicely done, not too over the top. I don't care for the amount of tooling or the fact that it's all big and floral, but otherwise it is ok. A darker color might would show off the copper better too. I know it's a Dale Chavez, some of his stuff is nice and some of it is WAY too over the top for me.

  1. Not my style at all, but it's COMPOSED and COORDINATED which we don't often see at TTOD!

  3. Looks like it'd make an AWESOME model horse saddle! Wonder if someone could copy it in miniature?

  4. I don't ride western so im gonna ask: is there supposed to be like a slope in front of the horn on the seat? None of my grandpa's western saddles look like that.

  5. I'd like that a few shades darker. It's a little too light and red for my personal taste.

  6. @Shannon, most Western Plesure saddles are shaped like that because they hold them in better. They are kind of like those leg blocks on dressage saddle, it's so the rider will stay still.

  8. I love the copper/silver combo too, but ... I'm old-fashioned enough to prefer darker saddles. OTOH, this isn't that super "blonde" color that I wish would go away - looks more natural, plus they really play up the contrasts in a tasteful way.

Now, what is up with today's super-teensy saddle horns?? With that GINORMOUS swell up front, it makes me think of... um... an NFL player who's had too many steroids and is suffering some... side effects.

    Please pass the Cialis.

  9. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

TO me, this saddle is one-half step from OVERDONE and TACKY, and then someone posts that it "would make a great simple show saddle."

Yeah, the WP world has gone totally bonkers with the silver for sure. Why not just go all out and get parade saddles? ;-)
