Space Dressage

Someone sent me the link to this company, O-M-E-G-A, who makes saddles with "anatomic" trees. They may be high tech and well made, but they look like something from the space program. Or a comic book. Either way, they are strange looking things and they come in pretty much any color of the rainbow.

Ah, yes. Traditional and formal black and white. Not so bad. A real bear to keep clean though.

Red and black, OK if you are goth. Or in the SCA and your colors are red and black. Awe Hail Gleann Abhann baby!

Ostrich, mmkay. Showing off a bit are we?

Teal, hmmmm. Maybe if you were an endurance rider.

Bright freaking royal blue, see comment above.

Ok, really people? I thought we American rednecks were the only ones making camo-colored saddles. For shame.

  1. The Academie du Spectacle Equestre (Academy of Equestrian Arts) at Versailles in France uses the Omega saddles, at least I think it's the same brand. Theirs aren't those ugly colors, but they have the cut outs... now I can't find the photo I'm looking for that shows it. Oh well, they don't look nearly as bad in normal colors.

  2. Odd as it looks, I would totally get the royal blue one if it actually fit my horses and I had a disposable income. (Ha.)

But then, I've been influenced by endurance, eventing, AND racing, so...

  3. These get my vote for the "wierdest" looking saddles so far!

  4. I do endurance and would love to try one, they look so comfy.

As for the colour, I have a black horse with black tack so ..... um black for me (boring I know).

And the camo ........... is just wrong on any saddle

  5. It looks so soft and cushy, like a sofa! I want to sit in it! And the teal and blue ones...I'm sure your butt will be held in that saddle like velcro.

  7. I would LOVE to try one! They look really cool to me. I would prefer a black one though.

  8. Weird looking, but I'd definitely try one! For some reason I feel like I'd also *have* to be listening to either 'Space Oddity' or 'Starman' by Bowie.

  10. But do they make it in hair-on cowhide? That's the real question. :)
It's on my Fun to Try list. In basic black. Does it look a little constricting to anyone else?

Alien Space saddles, hmmmm. Does this mean I might achieve *gasp* CONTACT?
    :)

They are SO VERY 80s fantasy.

  13. They are totally space age looking, especially that black and white one. But the information on them looks like they at least try to know what they're doing and sounds good. Too bad I can't buy ya one for your horse in purple lepordskin or something (snerk!) After all, they're just making whatever the crazy crazy public will buy!

  14. I bought one of the original Wintec saddles back in the 80's. They came in colors. I bought blue my friend bought red. They were very comfortable and light weight. I used mine for more then 10 years and it held up great until my daughters boarder collie chewed a flap. I ride a bay horse in the woods A LOT so if they had an endurance model BLAZE ORANGE that fit my 1/2 Arab correctly I'd buy it lol

  16. In traditional colors I'd like one. Looks comfy alright. Good old brown is good enough for me!
