If you could buy...
any saddle you wanted. What would it be? I would have a hard time deciding, I think I would go with the Syd Hill Giltrow Gulf Poley. I wanted one when I bought my new Aussie, but the price tag was a bit too much for me at the moment.
Though at the moment, the next big purchase will be a trailer, I want a Brenderup Solo. Just have to sell a kidney or something to get it!
I also lust after a Peruvian Side Saddle, but that will have to wait too. They are just so gorgeous!

Taste the Rainbow
Or not...

Reminds me of a bag of Skittles. I think these are synthetics, and they look like decent ones, if only they didn't come in such a colorful variety.

Pink Zebras
I dunno about you folks, but I have never seen one. This bridle however, sports pink zebra accents. Oh, and lots of rhinestones. Yuck.

Sorry about the short post, it's kind of To Heck With it Thursday, which shall be followed by F-It Friday.

Scary Pink Saddle of the Week - Blast From the Past
Who remembers this? I know I do! When Wintecs first came on the market they were available in all kinds of offensive colors. I found this one for sale on eBay some time back. I also recall that they were not the best quality and the smooth fake leather parts would sort of disintegrate after prolonged use. Ah, memories.

Safari Bling
Yikes, stripe overload. Do not like. Ditch the painted striped on the skirts, fenders and swells and the rhinestone conchos, and you MIGHT have an OK saddle.

You know, I almost kind of like this. Take off the rhinestones and the leopard print corner piece and its not so bad. Is it?

Yikes
OK, I can see that the curb chain is supposed to be on the other side of the rings, opposite the mouthpiece. That being said, could anyone care to explain this contraption? This is an Icelandic bit, I know that much, but good heavens, it's weird looking.

Scary Pink Saddle of the Week
Gag, break out the Pepto. Oh wait, looks like they already did, and used it on this saddle. It wouldn't be bad if they had just done the seat, but the hearts all over it take it from tolerable to tasteless in no time.

Too Much
You know, I would like this if it weren't for the black horn, the black bit on the fenders, and the oversized, black underskirt. If it were a normal size and has just the black edging on it, it would not be bad at all. As is, the black alligator it a bit overdone.
Ah, that's better...
Ah, that's better...
Still don't care for the oversized skirt, but I like this quite a bit as far as silver-encrusted show saddles go. I would prefer to see a bit darker oil saddle, but not bad overall.

Spidey Sense
"Spider - Saddle, Spider - Saddle..." Eeeek! Better make sure the person who you buy this for is not an arachnaphobe. It's different, I'll give it that.

Vintage Tack
Wow, this is, um, different. It looks alien, like it came from some weird old west themed sci-fi movie. Ick. Nice buckstitching by the way.

Twinkle Twinkle
Green stars. Hmm, not TOO bad in comparison to some of the things we have seen. I just find the color combination of the leather and the painted accents and stars somewhat unsavory. If the painted areas were black, it would look sharp. As is, it is just a bit much.

Could be worse though. Observe...

Wow...
Sometimes there just are no words...

Well, maybe there are SOME words, like; pink, fluffy, maribou, rhinestones, and of course, at the bottom, zebra. And what is even scarier than the tack (if that is possible) is probably the amount of money these sell for. Can you imagine trying to clean horse sweat out of that fluffy pink monstrosity at he top?

Torture Device Tuesday
Wow, check out this bear trap. Geesh folks, really? WHY would you even contemplate putting this on your horse? If it needs this much hardware on its face to control it, perhaps you should reconsider this whole thing and TRAIN YOUR HORSE. *shakes head in amazement* I just do not understand how anyone can look at this and think, "Hey, that would work great on Ol' Dobbin! I am gonna get me one of those!" This looks kind of like a home made jobbie to me, I have never seen anything like this in a catalog or store.

Saddles Available - Cheap
Hey folks, shameless sales plug here. I have a couple of saddles I am selling to buy an Aussie Stock saddle without the stupid horn, I am tired of having a bruise on my stomach from the horn when I duck under tree branches or try to help the SRF up a hill. So, here we go.
First is the current Aussie Saddle. 18" seat, medium tree, overgirth included. Stirrups, leathers, girth, breastcollar and irons NOT included. It is very used, completely sound, just has normal wear and tear. Lots of scuffs and nicks, see the pics. $100 plus $45 shipping. Still lots of miles left, no idea of the maker though, someone gave it to me. Still super comfy and useable. ON HOLD

Second is a 17" Thorowgood Maxam AP, medium tree with the "Fish" to adjust the fit as your horse gains and loses weight. This is not an interchangeable gullet and will not resize the saddle significantly. I will include the fittings pictured, the stirrups are jointed and the footpad will flex foward and back to absorb shock. It is a sharp looking saddle and very comfy, I just no longer own the horse it was purchased for. $125 plus $40 shipping.

Email Me if interested.
