I don't believe this...

This poor pony looks absolutely thrilled (sarcasm) with her little getup. Whoever did this should be shot, or at least kicked.

Thanks to a reader for sending this!

Hmmm, the logos on those fenders look familiar.

Added 10:00 am HOLY COW! On closer inspection this poor fellow is, well, a FELLOW! They dressed a GELDING up like a princess!

  4. I think it's cute. I have kids who do costume classes. The kids have alot of fun. As long as it's safe I am not bugged by it. It's far better than the costumes the Mini people put the horses in! Sometimes you can't even see the horse under it!

See I did birthday parties with my old girl Naigen. She was a little more tastefully dressed here

  8. Actually, on closer inspection, it's a GELDING under all that! Poor guy, I bet he really feels emasculated now.

  9. Betcha that's at a birthday party for some horse-mad little girl.....LOL.....

I am impressed that the saddle pad and the ruffles appear to EXACTLY match the saddle.....

Any pony (or horse, for that matter) that puts up with some of the costumes I've seen is worth their weight in gold.....LOL....

  10. Yeeeeears ago, someone told me about a costume class they'd seen at a big QH show. The girl was Pebbles, the horse was Dino, but they'd made the tail out of metal (somehow) and the horse freaked, sliced his leg and had to be euthed.

So I'm a little leery of costumes.. THIS pony looks fine, but are you sure it's not going to take over the Earth? ; ) Check this out!

  15. Reminds me of poor Ralphie in his pink bunny suit in "A Christmas Story" being told he looks like a "pink nightmare." Except this poor gelding looks like a cross-dressing My Little Pony pink Disney Princess nightmare. What a saint.

  19. My 3 year old child wants GREEN hair... so we will be picking up some Manic Panic this weekend! We compromised on either Rainbow streaks, or maybe purple streaks.

She needs a pony to match!

  20. I understand the desire to dress your horse up in a costume... But not THIS particular costume. Poor, poor gelding.

  21. Aww poor little guy....

    That is just not right!

  22. it might not be so bad if the saddle and pad actually fit.. :/

costume classes are fun, but suckage on the little dino horse. i'm all for costumes as long as they're safe for the horses. giant metal tail, not so much.

  24. Maybe not so much on Dancing Queen, but I was instead hearing Aerosmith's Dude Looks Like A Lady...

That sucks about the Dino horse, but I'm not much of a fan of clothes or costumes on any animal. WTF?

Cattypex- My now teen daughter wanted Marge Simpson BLUE hair when she was 5 or 6. Manic Panic? Excellent! (said like Mr. Burns of course)

I figured why not? Let the kids at school say what they will and when she's older (now) it wouldn't be such a 'hot' idea.

I still have Ultra Violet and the pinkinsh maroon one. Of course since I do my own now and then- just because- I can't knock her for wanting to do hers either. Maybe since or rather because I use it in my hair, it doesn't have the same 'draw'. Afterall- how many teens do we know, who want to copy their mother???

  30. My friend has pony parties where she takes her VERY VERY VERY safe ponies to peoples' houses for kids' parties. She has two mares and a gelding. The gelding is a palomino mini, and he sometimes has to be a "girl." He is SO good about wearing all the crap my friend puts on him, and he is safe for anyone to ride. The other two ponies she has are mares, and they are also saints. The most popular parties she has are unicorns who wear "horns" made of satin cloth and cotton fill, and fairy princess parties (yes, the horses have wings on their saddles). The kids don't know the difference between the gelding and the mare, though. The only time it becomes an issue is when he has to pee!

Anyway, safe ponies are worth their weight in gold--I have one that isn't safe for kids right now that I'm working with, and I doubt he'll ever be safe for kids!
