Scary Pink Saddle of the Week - Blast From the Past

Who remembers this? I know I do! When Wintecs first came on the market they were available in all kinds of offensive colors. I found this one for sale on eBay some time back. I also recall that they were not the best quality and the smooth fake leather parts would sort of disintegrate after prolonged use. Ah, memories.

  1. I've posted my funny memory of my burgundy wintec in previous comments.

It never did get enough use to get to the point of breaking down.

We also did use these in college for our theraputic riding class. Kept our personal tack out of harm's way, so to speak.

  2. I always thought those "southwestern print" western Wintecs were icky. I used to price out all the tack I'd need when I was young (yea...I was that obsessed little girl. Everyone knows at least 1). I would price all the stuff that I liked best and really wanted AND another price of all the cheapest stuff I thought I'd need just to see how much I had to save when I finally was old enough for a job. Unfortunately, those southwest Wintecs were usually in my cheapest catagory. Bleh

  3. Peaches, I believe you are referring to the Cordura saddles. They come in camo too as seen in the link. Scroll down to the bottom where it says 'Southwestern'. Clicking on that it brings up a page saying they have been discontinued. Hooray for small favors!

There were matching breastcollars, cinches, pads and even bridles. All decked out and nowhere to show.

  4. "Disintegrates"........not a word I want associated with any tack I own!

  5. C-N-J: Yea, that was it. EVERYTHING matched. They were beyond ugly and defined the words "tacky tack". But even though I thought they were ugly, I was willing to ride in 1 if I had to if it meant that I could ride. I had that small light of hope that I'd have a horse when I was young. I knew we didn't have a whole lot of money so if cheap and ugly is what we could afford, then cheap and ugly wouldn't matter to me (I didn't care as long as I had a HORSE). :)
