Spidey Sense

"Spider - Saddle, Spider - Saddle..." Eeeek! Better make sure the person who you buy this for is not an arachnaphobe. It's different, I'll give it that.

  1. They only place I could see this being somewhat acceptable to is a haunted hay ride type thing. Other than that, where could you ever really use it? I also like how they decided to "show off" the fender by detaching it an making it twice as big as the actual saddle

  2. I actually kind of like it. A taste of the macabe and the darker side of life.

  6. Different......but not in a "good" way!

I usually use the word different when I don't want to offend someone by saying words like hideous, ugly, horrid, tasteless, eyesore, awful, etc., etc.!

  9. Actually.,... if it was a little more feminine, with just a bit more spidery metal on it, it would be a refreshing touch of Goth among the sea of Country....

I always felt out of place with most horse people around here, since I was totally into the early 90s grunge/goth/industrial/techno scene, and I had exactly ONE "alternative" horse friend - but she was old school Punk Rock, and did Arabs and mostly saddleseat.

I'd love to see a steampunk horse scene. I mean, dude, DRESSAGE. Especially Classical Dressage.

Or hellraising punk rock contesting girls with badass girls in Doc Martens dying their hair magenta. And of course they wouldn't be ignorant rednecks, so maybe they'd be better horsemen than so many of those kids...

I can dream..... but I'm soooo sick of the whole Country scene.

    1. Omg me to! I'm a barrel racer and at every race I feel so weird wearing my band t-shirts and my black hair. Even my horses are black (a coincidence thigh trust me)! I would love this set!

  10. ...I like it.

Maybe because Spider-Man is my favorite comic book character and I'm a total geek.

  11. My immediate thought- maybe my hubby would ride if I got him a spiderman saddle?? LOL!!

Cattypex- I'm there with you on the music taste. I watch the freestyle reining video's on youtube, and think of songs that would be cool for reining... usually I end up with Bruce Springsteen or Patti Smith in mind, which really isn't too far out there... okay, maybe Patti Smith is, but...

Somehow, the whole 90's grunge/goth/industrial scene doesn't mesh into horse world for me... don't get me wrong, I'll still blast NIN when I clean my house but... the pesissism doesn't work for me, since horses make me continually optimistic.

I think the saddle looks well made... off to google the maker....

  12. CP & Amy- We are so there with you on the music selections and the wish to lose the horses = hillbilly, redneck, twangy crap.

But then we have been known to pull into the parking lot at a competition with anything from Metalica, Ozzy, Motley Crue, and Led Zepplin among many others playing... Windows down and volume cranked up of course!

  13. I kind of like the saddle... it looks well made, and you could always pick it out at a glance in the tack room!

And count me as on the the ones with "non-traditional" music in their imaginary freestyles (well, mine are only in my head!)... one horse I work with now would use "Given Up" by Linkin Park! "Tell me what the $%#! is wrong with MEEE!!"
