What the heck?

Can you just hear the sigh of defeat coming from this poor horse? He looks SO embarrassed at having to model this. I was sent this a long time ago and have been saving it for awhile. I have NO IDEA what this is supposed to be for, all I can tell is it is VERY sparkly and seems to be zebra striped. It also seems to be asymmetrical, which really bugs me for some reason. Looks like someone got WAY too carried away with the sequins and BeDazzler and this poor horse has to suffer the results. The large rosette-thingie on the right side looks like it might get him in the eye too if they are not careful, the only thing I can figure is that it is covering the adjustment buckle on this, erm, bridle.

  1. Ohg wow and look the poor horse is so horrified by it, he's trying to chew it off... notice in the second pic he has the shank of his bit in his mouth....

That looks like something my first grader would have made for fun because he was bored... i'm not opposed to some bling but that... eeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwww

  3. Ok I just looked at the pictures enlarged and I think I know what is going on here, the tack looks to be the nylon Zebra tack from Ozark Leather Company (actually very cute on a pony...) that has apparently been attacked by a drunken Vegas showgirl who decided to go legit and start showing horses instead of legs. But she can't quite shake her Vegas past and had to sparkle things up a wee bit.... she's working on the big teal plume for the back of the headstall as we speak.....

But in all seriousness, the tack, though funky in zebra print is solidly made and made in america to boot. My daughter actually has the zebra headstall for her pony.... The moore i looked at the pics and imagined it with out the bling the more I realized ... "wait a tic I know this tack!"

  4. BTW that IS NOT the orginal browband for the headstall either.... it's actually got a solid black one ear on the pony size and a solid black browband on the horse size.... they have obviously replaced it

  5. I don't like asymmetrical either.... not even the one-ear Western headstalls that came out in the 80s.

Is this supposed to be some kind of "Indian pony" getup for a parade or other shindig?

  6. I love the fact they have the snaps at the bit so you can "quick change" things.

  7. Move that rosette up in the first picture (further away from his eye), and I would use this headstall.....

Ok, I'm not an animal print person, but it beats the flying blue snot out of yesterday's saddle....LOL.....

  8. I'm with you Diane I., I don't find this nearly as offensive as yesterday's atrocity!

  9. I think it looks a little like what Cher would have worn in Vegas except without feathers.

  10. I can only hope this is for some sort of horrible "who can look the most awful contest".

  11. If you moved the rosettes, made it symmetrical, and black, it would be kind of cool for when you wanted to play dress up.

Narrower straps and a throatlatch, please?

  12. I love your blog. It makes me laugh. So when I found this http://www.examiner.com/examiner/examinerslideshow.html?entryid=590229 from this article http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-22473-Fort-Worth-Horses-Examiner~y2009m9d22-Bling-for-horses I thought you would love it. Keep up the good (tacky!) work!

  13. I agree with cattypex, I can't stand a one-ear headstall because it's asymmetrical, and it's the same with this thing. Well, actually asymmetrical-ness is pretty far down on the list of why I don't like this bridle...

Oh, and making it a two-ear headstall doesn't make it more symmetrical. I just look at that and go why not just have a browband, for Pete's sake?

  14. Hay maybe those round 'discs' are blinders? Blinkers? I think it might look nice with yesterdays saddle. That saddle seemed so plain but paired with this bridle, think of the color possibilities!! LOL!
    Tacky is as tacky does!!
