Start things off right...

To start off the new year, I present the first Tacky Tack of 2010. Thanks to an intrepid reader who sent the link to this spotted monstrosity. Now, I LIKE leopard print, a peek into my bedroom and my closet can confirm this. Leopard print shirts, bedding, candles, cowhide rug and fuzzy throw. It is, however done tastefully, as an accent print, not SOLID leopard print. Really. I also own NO tack that is leopard print, none. That being said, even I cannot find it in my heart to like this saddle set. It comes with a bridle and matching breastcollar too. It seems to be actually made from the same printed cowhide that my rug is made of, which I know from experience is slick and if rubbed the wrong way, very prickly.

  1. Oh wow that is beyond... just wow.
Now honestly I like the saddle IF it were a solid honey colored leather with maybe some silver accent, but not spotted all over!!!

  2. You know the more i look at the the more horrified I am. I can imagine the snarky comments and stares I would get entering a barrel arena... my horse would probably sull up and refuse to enter the gate for fear of being laughed at by the spectators! OM WHY WHY WHY????

  3. Okay... well... it does look like it's made well. You know, if there was just accent leopard... like the latigo holder, cantle, and pommel, and the skirts we solid colored the same light oil as the rest... I might even like it. But it's too... busy.... looks like it's for sale? How much are they listing it for? Just curious.

  4. Egads that is horrible. Why would you do that to a saddle?

I was at a huge barrel race in College Station TX this weekend and I saw some really horrid things. LOL Most of it could have come off this site! hahaha

  5. Ironic when you think about predator animal print on a saddle meant to sit on a "prey" animal! Let's hope it doesn't smell like a predator as well as look like one or else the rodeo will follow.

I think we should start getting photos of people actually "using" hideous tack. That would be fun, don't you think?

  6. Oh dear... and here I'm embarassed because of the zebra snuggie you can catch glimpses of in a few of my pictures on my blog... but putting my HORSE in something like that (or this) yikes...

then again I did find a show shirt I want... it has all the different animal prints (leopard, zebra, giraffe?) in various patterns all over said shirt in... are you ready? RAINBOW!!!!!!!! MU HA HA HA HA

that being said the only reason I considered it is it would go with everything... when you're showing three horses back to back to back.... it may be easier! LOL

I weep to know there is more than one of this monstrosity in existence. (it really is no better in person)

  9. Hey wait, I get it! It's not tacky, it's a camo saddle!

This saddle is used for hunting leopards! They can't see you coming because of the spots. Genius. Sheer genius. *searches for leopard hunting gear*
